For RC enthusiasts out there, you might be quite familiar with the Spektrum DX line of radio dji drone transmitters. Two of the more popular in the DX line are the DX6 and the DX6e. The names are similar as both of those come from the DX6 line. But what is the difference between the Spektrum DX6 and the DX6e?

The DX6e is more affordable than the DX6, but doesn’t come with a voice alert, which the DX6 has. However, the DX6e has an external mode change, has one less programmable mix, and only supports regular swashplates in heli mode, while the DX6 offers more programmable mixes.

They may be quite similar in the way they were designed, in the way they look, and in some of the features that they have, but make no mistake about the fact that the Spektrum DX6 and the DX6e have some significant differences from one another. The DX6 is supposed to be the higher-end transmitter while the DX6e is supposed to be closer to the economy level. But let us get to know more about these two so that you can get to know the ins and outs of what makes them different from one another.

Spektrum DX6
The DX6 is a capable 6-channel radio transmitter that is on the lower side of the price range but still offers more than what others at the same price will give you. It was specifically designed to be constructed from the ground up to make sure that it doesn’t merely follow its predecessors but is able to stand out on its own very well.

One of the most amazing features of the Spektrum DX6 is that it comes with a programmable voice alert that can easily allow you to use the different features that come with this transmitter without the need for you to take your eyes off of what you are controlling. This feature is neat because it makes things easier on your part as you can fly your drone or model helicopter without even taking your eyes off it for a second, as you merely need to rely on the programmable voice alert feature instead of having to glance down at the controller.

Spektrum DX6e
While the Spektrum DX6e does have an “e” in its name, it actually looks a lot different from the DX6 because it comes with a more modern look even though the “e” actually stands for economy. Yes, that’s right. The Spektrum DX6e is on the economy side of the transmitter price range as it comes with a price tag that is much more affordable than most other transmitters on the market.

Even though it’s technically a budget option, the DX6e doesn’t feel like it’s cheap at all as it has a lot of different features that make it look and feel like a more expensive radio transmitter. That’s something that those who are on the budget side of things will love about this transmitter as they can get the features of more expensive options on a more affordable transmitter that doesn’t skimp out on the details and on the different options it offers.

Difference Between Spektrum DX6 vs DX6e
At this point, you may have noticed that there are plenty of similarities between the DX6 and the DX6e. Both of them are 6-channel transmitters that transmit at a 2.4GHz frequency and are capable of making use of different programs to fly almost anything that can be flown remotely. In that regard, what makes them different from one another?

The truth is that there really aren’t a ton of differences from one another if you compare the DX6 to the DX6e. It would be a different story if you were to compare the DX6 to the DXe but, when it comes to the DX6 and the DX6e, the differences aren’t really drastic to the point that you would immediately prefer one over the other especially if you look at the huge gap between the two in terms of their price.

One of the first differences is the fact that the DX6 comes with a programmable voice alert that is truly a gem to use especially because it allows you to easily control whatever you are flying without taking your eyes off it as you can now use the programmable voice alert to your advantage. This is something that doesn’t come with the more economical DX6e transmitter, and it might be the biggest reason why there is a huge price difference between the two. However, if you have gotten used to not using voice control features, you might not think that this feature is something that will convince you to upgrade to the DX6 if you have the DX6e.

Another difference is that the DX6 comes with five programmable mixes while the DX6e comes with only four. Again, this shouldn’t be too much of a difference for most hobbyists out there to the point that it would make you upgrade to the DX6 if you have the DX6e. But if you are still choosing which of the two to buy, this might make you want to lean over to the DX6 because of how an additional programmable mix might be handy in the future.
